El cáncer es es la segunda causa de muerte en Santa Fe y tiene un alto impacto sanitario en la atención y asistencia, sobre todo orientado al control de síntomas. A partir de la promulgación de la Ley 27.350, que establece el marco regulatorio para la investigación médica y científica del uso medicinal, terapéutico y/o paliativo del dolor de la planta de cannabis y sus derivados, se hizo más frecuente su utilización para las patologías oncológicas.
Para avanzar en la temática; el gobierno provincial, a través de los ministerios de Salud y Producción, Ciencia y Tecnología, desde el Programa de Cuidados Paliativos y la Agencia de Control del Cáncer dispuso una reunión de consenso multisectorial para abordar la temática del uso del cannabis medicinal en pacientes con cáncer, y en el corto plazo dar intervenciones terapéuticas puntuales relacionadas con la calidad de vida, el apetito y dolores de todo tipo.
«Trabajar desde la interdisciplinariedad y la multisectorialidad es la mejor forma de abordar las problemáticas complejas como es el uso de cannabis medicinal en cáncer, permitiendo traer luz a un tema que aún sigue siendo tabú, logrando así mostrar la mejor evidencia científica disponible al momento para poder decidir de la manera más asertiva posible», dijo la directora de la Agencia de Control del Cáncer, Graciela López Degani.
La jornada se realizó en Rosario el pasado 22 de septiembre y contó con la presencia, entre otros, del secretario de Salud provincial, Jorge Prietto, la directora del Instituto Nacional del Cáncer, Verónica Pesce, la referente de la sociedad Argentina de Medicina y Cuidados Paliativos, Liliana Rodríguez, el coordinador del Programa nacional de Investigación sobre los usos medicinales del Cannabis, Marcelo Morante.
Además, estuvo la directora del Laboratorio Industrial Farmaceútico (LIF), Elida Formente, el subsecretario de Promoción de Salud a cargo del Programa Provincial de Cannabis, Sebastián Torres, la subsecretaría de Proyectos de Innovación Productiva, Eliana Eberle, el director del Cudaio, Mario Perichón y el director de Iapos, Oscar Broggi.
También participaron del encuentro Cristian Micheri, de la Asociación de Oncología de Rosario y Sofia Maiorana de la Asociación de Usuarios y Profesionales para el Abordaje del Cannabis (Aupac).
-¿Cómo surgió la idea de realizar esta reunión multisectorial con referentes de todo el país para avanzar en el uso del cannabis medicinal en pacientes oncológicos?, preguntó Rosario/12 a López Degani.
-Actualmente en toda la Argentina, el aceite de cannabis está indicado para la Epilepsia Refractaria; sin embargo, desde la promulgación de la Ley 27.350 su uso se ha expandido por fuera de las indicaciones reconocidas por la ANMAT de forma extensa para otras patologías, dentro de ellas, las patologías oncológicas.
Así, su utilización es cada vez más frecuente entre pacientes con cáncer que buscan aliviar sus síntomas, y mejorar su calidad de vida.
Dada la controversia que existe en relación a la evidencia científica disponible, el debate en torno a su utilidad, la existencia de una Ley provincial y el extenso uso de este producto en la comunidad de pacientes.
Desde el Programa de Cuidados Paliativos y Soporte de la Agencia de Control del Cáncer del ministerio de Salud de la Provincia se propuso realizar una reunión de Consenso Multisectorial, para abordar la temática del uso del cannabis medicinal en pacientes con cáncer en el territorio provincial.
-¿Cómo se articularán las estrategias con los demás actores de la provincia, entre ellos el LIF y el Centro Experimental en Monte Vera?
-En realidad, la articulación entre los actores de la provincia ya funciona desde el primer momento, ejemplo de esto fue la firma del convenio marco entre el INTA, el Ministerio de Producción y el LIF para avanzar con objetivos de producción, investigación, de extensión e inclusión.
Así, se trabajó con la tipificación de las plantas, y definiendo según la materia prima los aceites con los componentes activos más importantes, como CBD y THC de futura producción, desarrollando en paralelo la industria del cáñamo.
Así mismo, la estrecha relación entre el cultivo, la producción y utilización se está trabajando hace meses dentro del Ministerio de Salud, con la conformación de la red provincial de Cannabis Medicinal y la Comisión Reguladora, pero en esta oportunidad era necesario abordar esta temática ampliando la visión, llamando al dialogo al resto de los actores que en definitiva formarán parte de este proceso.
-¿Cuál sería el siguiente paso tras la jornada?
-Este fue el primer encuentro de Cannabis relacionado a la patología cáncer. Si bien hemos dado un avance importante aún falta construir consensos. De todas maneras se plantearon tres líneas claras para el abordaje.
La primera es la de trabajar en la producción de formulaciones con componentes diferentes a los existentes, que permitirá tener mejores resultados cuando hablamos de tratamientos paliativos para el cáncer.
La segunda tiene que ver con generar y articular con las Sociedades Científicas un proyecto de investigación local, que permita avanzar en la generación de conocimientos validados científicamente sobre la utilización de este producto medicinal.
Finalmente, y dado que esta problemática está instalada socialmente, con uso extendido en pacientes con cáncer es indispensable desarrollar un plan de gestión de riesgos a corto plazo que permita dar un marco de acompañamiento a pacientes y profesionales en la medida que se va generando una evidencia de más peso, y así facilitar a los profesionales y pacientes información confiable, accesible y con rigor científico para la toma de decisiones.
