Desde que se aprobó en 2022 el Registro Nacional de Semillas, para la compra y venta, ya son más de 30 las genéticas nacionales inscriptas en el INASE para su comercialización. La Choco OG es una genética nacional que surge como parte de un colectivo de criadores del barrio Lugano en la Ciudad de Buenos Aires.
Cannabica Argentina habló con Nicolás Geniso, integrante del colectivo 1439 Criadores de Cannabis, quien brindó detalles sobre la variedad de cannabis que registraron en el Instituto Nacional de la Semilla (INASE) y que lleva el nombre de Choco OG (CH1439XMT), también sobre el trabajo realizado para lograr el objetivo.
“Entre marzo y abril de este año se aprobó y comenzó el proceso de lo que es la precomercialización”, señaló el activista y cultivador que también forma parte de la primera organización de breeders de Latinoamérica: Asociación Argentina para la Producción, Crianza e Investigación de la Semilla de Cannabis (CRIACANN).
Geniso explicó que durante todo el trabajo de inscripción de la variedad nacía en paralelo la iniciativa de 1439 Criadores de Cannabis que lleva como nombre el código postal del barrio Lugano ubicado en la Ciudad de Buenos Aires.
“Es el barrio donde nacimos, nos criamos y nos formamos”, afirmó el cultivador y agregó que tomaron el nombre como identidad. “El código postal lo tomamos como símbolo de resistencia, es algo que prácticamente no se usa pero identifica a los barrios”, aseguró.
El colectivo de criadores comenzó a cultivar sus primeras plantas a raíz de la crisis social, económica y política que sacudió a toda la Argentina en el 2001 y que profundizó la dificultad del acceso al cannabis que llegaba desde el extranjero.
“Eso nos obligó a pensar cómo cultivar un producto de menor costo y mayor calidad en un contexto complejo agravado por el permanente conflicto con la ley penal”, expresaron.
Así, y con el objetivo de conservar variedades para garantizar los cultivos, iniciaron sin darse cuenta el camino “eterno” de la crianza. “Desde entonces, nos dedicamos a preservar genéticas únicas y a desarrollar híbridos originales mediante técnicas de cultivo 100% orgánicas”, explicaron.
Los cultivadores, aún en situaciones adversas, trabajaron para garantizar la mejor calidad de sus semillas cuidando las condiciones de temperatura y humedad durante todo el proceso productivo.
“Durante años cultivamos en nuestros jardínes urbanos y clandestinos en los que aprendimos acerca del poder de la planta”, señalaron desde 1439 y agregaron: “Hoy asistimos a la formalización de la industria nacional de cannabis convencidos de la importancia de la crianza para su desarrollo, así como del potencial argentino en el comercio global”.
El oficio, aprendizaje y la pasión por el cultivo escaló a los mostrados. El primer fin de semana de agosto, la semilla Choco OG comenzó a venderse al público de manera legal para quienes tuviesen el Reprocann vigente: “fue tremendo”, recordó Geniso.
“Hicimos una acción que tuvo más repercusión de la que esperábamos, vendimos el paquete de 3 semillas feminizadas a $1439 pesos”, explicó Geniso e indicó que lo llamaron desde otros barrios para felicitar a todo el equipo de criadores.
En una industria nacional que recién comienza a conformarse, hay más de emblemático que de comercial. “Más allá de la venta, fue algo simbólico y positivo el poder decir que esa genética es nuestra”, agregó.
Desde el colectivo se mostraron expectantes de que la industria y la ciencia se potencien de los saberes acumulados de los y las criadoras durante todos estos años en los que la ley penal los persiguió y, aún en algunos casos, persigue.
“Queremos honrar con nuestro trabajo a quienes nos acompañaron a lo largo de estos años, especialmente a quienes fueron víctimas del prohibicionismo que en buena hora, luego de años de lucha, es puesto en tela de juicio en el mundo entero”, concluyeron.
Chogo OG
Según detalló Nicolás, la variedad se viene trabajando desde el 2017 aproximadamente y se trata de una semilla con efecto equilibrado por su proporcionada ascendencia genética índica (60%) y sativa (40%).
La genética cuenta con una floración rápida de entre 54 a 56 días. “De las variedades que teníamos para registrar elegimos esta porque era la que más nos gustaba”, aseguró Geniso.
La planta de cannabis del colectivo de criadores se caracteriza por tener sabor frutal, con destellos de chocolate y un particular gusto a chicle globo, “es una planta de producción generosa, que da cogollos carnosos con alto contenido en THC”.

El colectivo de criaderos estará presente por primera vez en la Expo Cannabis Argentina que se desarrollará los próximos 3, 4 y 5 de noviembre en el predio ferial de La Rural, Ciudad de Buenos Aires. “Vamos a presentar la Choco OG en sociedad”, afirmó Geniso.
