Hace unos pocos días se abrió una interesante discusión acerca del cambio de nombre a la vieja estación madrileña Atocha, sucede que en estos tiempos se están cambiando algunos nombre de estaciones de trenes por nombres femeninos como una forma de reconocimiento a las mujeres y que marca el compromiso con la igualdad de género por parte del gobierno.
Es por esto que la vieja estación llevará el nombre de la escritora madrileña, Almudena Grandes, fallecida en el mes de noviembre pasado.
Esto ha causado una interesante discusión acerca del origen del nombre ¨Atocha¨ puesto que la mismísima presidenta de la comuna de Madrid Isabel Díaz Ayuso, declaro que Atocha se refería a la Virgen María y esta ya era mujer, en alusión a que no era necesario el cambio ya que ambas serian femeninas.
Desde varios sectores han criticado las palabras de Ayuso, ya que cuando uno se adentra en la historia la verdad sale a la luz, y el termino atocha o atochal se refiere a la fibra larga del Cáñamo (Cannabis Sativa) y no a la virgen de atocha. Recordemos que la estación se construyó a mediados del siglo XIX y era la puerta de entrada de enormes cantidades de carros que llegaban desde Alicante cargados con este material estratégico para esa época.
El Cáñamo industrial se ha venido cultivando a lo largo del mundo por milenios, solo la política de la «guerra a las drogas» ha intentado borrarla hasta de la historia y como vemos en la discusión de los españoles esta ha sido muy importante hasta desde la mirada cultural.
Que mala idea que ha sido dejar de lado a la industria y a la cultura cañamera mundial, solo para favorecer modelos y parámetros basados en formatos de producciones contaminantes. Es de destacar que estas políticas de prohibición del cáñamo están paulatinamente cambiando, quizás hubo que llegar a momentos de urgencia a nivel planetario para pensar en alternativas de producciones sustentables y no contaminantes como el viejo pero renovado cáñamo industrial, que en estos tiempos de avances tecnológicos volverá a ser como lo fue en el pasado un material estratégico.
