    Rio Negro cultivará cannabis para investigación

    El Ministerio de Salud aprobó el proyecto del Centro Regional Patagonia Norte del INTA y la Asociación Civil Ciencia Sativa que tendrá como primer objetivo el cultivo de cannabis para su investigación científica y médica en la localidad de Guerrico, Rio Negro.

    La resolución 526/2021 fue publicada este lunes en el Boletín Oficial y entre los objetivos se detalla el generar material floral para diferentes tipos de investigaciones, en otra instancia se buscará elaborar fitopreparados de calidad para diferentes síntomas y patologías, se hará la adaptación de variedades en las condiciones de Patagonia Norte y se generará un banco de germoplasma. 

    «Era clave para poder continuar hacia la siguiente etapa que es pedir al Instituto Nacional de Semillas (INASE) la autorización para la importación de semillas y de esa manera comenzar a cultivar», le explicó a Télam la bióloga, investigadora de Conicet e integrante de Ciencia Sativa, Gabriela Calzolari con respecto a la resolución. “Las semillas se importarán de Colombia, Estados Unidos y España”, detalló Calzolari y agregó que se buscará adaptar las genéticas de las cepas a nuestro clima. 

    Este es el primer proyecto de cultivo de una organización cannábica en conjunto con el INTA aprobado por el Ministerio de Salud. 

    El cultivo se realizará en dos hectáreas en la localidad rionegrina de Guerrico, en un predio en el cual la asociación estuvo trabajando junto al Centro Regional Patagonia Norte del INTA en el acondicionamiento de la seguridad con la instalación de cercos perimetrales, cámaras y alarmas.

    Esta es la tercera iniciativa en conseguir aprobación desde que en 2017 se aprobó la ley 27.350 de Investigación Médica y Científica del Uso Medicinal de la Planta de Cannabis y sus Derivados. 

    El primer proyecto, que obtuvo la aprobación de la entonces Secretaría de Salud y el Ministerio de Seguridad, fue en febrero de 2019 en la provincia de Jujuy en la finca El Pongo, donde actualmente se produce aceite de cannabis en el laboratorio de la empresa Cannava. 

    La segunda iniciativa recibió la autorización del Ministerio de Salud en enero de este año, a través de la resolución 2983/2020, permitiendo el cultivo de cannabis «con fines de investigación médica y científica a desarrollarse en la empresa con participación estatal mayoritaria Biofábrica Misiones S.A. de la ciudad de Posadas».
