    El INTI impulsó un ensayo pionero para la industria del cannabis

    Por primera vez en Sudamérica, se realizó un estudio comparativo entre laboratorios que trabajan para el sector del cannabis medicinal con el objetivo de mejorar la calidad de las mediciones en el país.

    A nivel mundial, se ha extendido la utilización del cannabis medicinal para el tratamiento de dolores y el control de enfermedades como la epilepsia, intestinales, entre otras. 

    Para acompañar el desarrollo nacional de este sector en auge, desde el INTI se realizó un ensayo comparativo entre laboratorios que analizan sustancias claves del cannabis para uso médico.

    La iniciativa se planteó con el objetivo de conocer la calidad de las mediciones en el país y ajustar los procesos para mejorarlos. Esto último resulta clave no sólo para la industria sino también como un respaldo para los usuarios finales de estos productos que se comercializan con fines terapéuticos.

    “Participaron 27 laboratorios del país (tanto públicos como privados) y a cada uno le enviamos muestras de las dos sustancias activas principales del cannabis, THC y de CBD, que tuvieron que analizar mediante sus propios métodos y patrones. Luego, comparamos todos los resultados con un valor de referencia del INTI para conocer el desempeño (analítico) de cada establecimiento”, detalla Patricia Gatti, subgerenta de Metrología Científica e Industrial del organismo.

    Como resultado, especialistas del Servicio Argentino de Interlaboratorios del INTI pudieron evaluar el desempeño de cada laboratorio, como satisfactorio, cuestionable o no satisfactorio, y realizar sugerencias de mejora en los procesos de análisis. 

    Para realizar la clasificación se tomaron como referencia las normas ISO 17043 de evaluación de la conformidad; la ISO 13528 sobre pruebas de competencia mediante comparación entre laboratorios; y la resolución 781/2022 del Ministerio de Salud de la Nación, referida a productos vegetales a base de cannabis y sus derivados, destinados al uso y aplicación en medicina humana.

    “En un contexto de crecimiento global de la industria del cannabis, el rol de institutos de metrología como el INTI resulta estratégico para garantizar la competencia técnica de los laboratorios y mejorar la calidad de las mediciones del sector a nivel nacional”, anticipa Gatti.

    La funcionaria afirmó que “está previsto realizar un nuevo interlaboratorio referido a otros aspectos de control de este cultivo; y avanzar en un programa de aseguramiento de la calidad para las mediciones de cannabinoides que incluya actividades de capacitación, auditorías y la disposición de patrones de referencia”.
