El Parlamento de Ghana aprobó hace unos días un reglamento para regular la producción y el uso de cannabis con finalidades industriales. Se trata del último paso necesario para poner en marcha la producción de cannabis industrial, que fue previamente legalizada por el Parlamento el pasado julio. Con esta última aprobación del parlamento, que tuvo lugar el 14 de diciembre, el Ministerio del Interior ya puede emitir licencias y otorgar permisos para el cultivo de cáñamo.
El recién aprobado Reglamento de la Comisión de Control de Estupefacientes de 2023 también prevé la entrega de licencias a empresas para la “importación y exportación de cultivares, granos, semillas y biomasa de cannabis”. El cannabis y sus partes pasan a ser una materia comercializable como tantas otras, eso sí, siempre que la psicoactividad de la planta no supere el 0,3% de THC.
Según el medio GhanaWeb, durante el debate parlamentario sobre el reglamento, el ministro de Interior, Ambrose Dery, afirmó que la aprobación de la producción de cannabis para fines industriales no debe malinterpretarse como si fuera una legalización de la marihuana recreativa. La legalización del cultivo de cannabis para fines medicinales e industriales aprobado en julio es un proyecto con el que el Gobierno pretende impulsar una industria del cannabis no psicoactivo en el país.
