    Cáñamo, el nuevo alimento disponible en Argentina

    La medida se llevó adelante en una resolución conjunta entre la Secretaría de Agricultura y el Ministerio de Salud de la Nación.

    La Secretaría de Agricultura, Ganadería y Pesca de la Nación informó que las semillas de cáñamo que ahora integran la categoría de «semillas comestibles» en el Código Alimentario Argentino (CAA). La medida fue confirmada tras la publicación en el Boletín Oficial (BO) de la Resolución 31/2023.

    El titular de Agricultura, Juan José Bahillo, afirmó que el contexto actual es histórico y presenta una oportunidad única de “numerosas ramificaciones a través de un desarrollo inteligente y exitoso de la industria del cáñamo industrial-hortícola (Cannabis sativa L.)”.

    “El actual contexto global brinda importantes espacios para competir con calidad y excelencia mediante la producción de diversos productos derivados de este cultivo milenario”, agregó Bahillo sobre la incorporación del cáñamo al CAA.

    El documento modifica el Artículo 917 que autoriza “el uso alimentario” y describe la especificidad de las semillas de cáñamo cómo “semillas sanas, limpias y bien conservadas de las distintas variedades de la especie vegetal Cannabis Sativa L y que no expresan más de 1% de delta-9 tetrahidrocannabinol (THC)”.

    La incorporación se da luego de una investigación de la Comisión Nacional de Alimentos (CONAL) sobre el estudio y desarrollo del marco regulatorio de alimentos, para incorporar al Cannabis sativa L, y sus productos derivados en el CAA.

    La normativa aclara que las semillas de cáñamo no deberán contener restos de otras partes de la planta (hojas, tallo, etc), ni contener más del 0,5% de semillas dañadas y deberán estar libres de insectos vivos. 

    También se fijó en 0,25% la presencia de material mineral y no más de 0,10% de insectos muertos, fragmentos o resto de insectos.

    La presidenta de la Asociación Civil Proyecto Cáñamo, Diana Barreneche, señaló que la medida es “súper positiva”, necesaria y una decisión que se debía tomar sobre el cáñamo y sus derivados.

    “La publicación en el BO nos habla de que se hizo efectiva la posibilidad de registrar, comercializar, traer y exportar alimentos en base a el grano de cáñamo y sus derivados”, afirmó la abogada y agregó: “Es la habilitación ante el Instituto Nacional de Alimentos que se encarga de habilitar los productos que consumimos”.

    Alimentos de cáñamo en el CAA

    La medida incorpora al CAA la harina de semilla de cáñamo, proveniente de la molienda de la torta de semillas de cáñamo autorizadas y que “serán clasificadas cómo desgrasada o parcialmente desgrasada”. Además, el aceite de semillas de cáñamo que se obtiene de las distintas variedades de semilla de Cannabis Sativa L y que previamente son autorizadas por el CAA.

    Una vez más el cáñamo estuvo presente en la Expo Cannabis Argentina, que se llevó a cabo durante el fin de semana del 3, 4 y 5 de noviembre en La Rural, y año a año gana cada vez más espacio en la industria de la planta de cannabis.

    En esta última edición del evento, que reúne a la comunidad cannabica de distintos sectores, la primera Asociación Civil dedicada específicamente al cáñamo, Proyecto Cáñamo (PC), participó en el stand de la Secretaría de Agricultura, Ganadería y Pesca de la Nación.

    Desde la agrupación llevaron adelante una exhibición de productos a base de cáñamo que estuvo acompañado por el Instituto Nacional de Tecnología Agropecuaria (INTA), el Instituto Nacional de Semillas (INASE) y Servicio Nacional de Sanidad y Calidad Agroalimentaria (SENASA).

    En este contexto de avances en todo el país y con la reglamentación vigente de la Ley 27669, que establece la regulación del cannabis medicinal y el cáñamo industrial, los organismo nacionales comienzan a darle impulso a la nueva matriz productiva.
