    Farmacity y su visión del cannabis medicinal

    La conocida cadena de farmacias argentina, se suma con su visión del cannabis medicinal y comienza a difundir información sobre el correcto uso de la planta.

    Farmacity, cadena de farmacias argentinas que integra el grupo empresario Pegasus, busca responder las clásicas preguntas que fluyen entorno sobre el cannabis medicinal en el país: ¿Por qué genera desconfianza? ¿Qué tiene para ofrecer la planta? ¿Cómo puedo acceder a productos a base de cannabis? Y si los compro ¿voy a ir preso?

    Para responder las interrogantes de un tema ya instalado en la sociedad argentina, la empresa le dedicó al cannabis medicinal un episodio en su podcast de Spotify llamado “Farmacity, + Bienestar”.

    En el capítulo del podcast participa el farmacéutico de Farmacity, Pablo Alfaraz, quien define al cannabis medicinal como una herramienta que utiliza una planta que la humanidad conoce y usa hace mucho tiempo para tratar problemas de salud.

    “Hoy por hoy sabemos que se puede utilizar en una gama muy amplia y en una gran cantidad de condiciones de salud”, explicó Alfaraz e indicó que actualmente todavía hay prejuicios y desconocimiento.

    Según señaló el profesional, hay un taboo instalado por décadas de prohibicionismo que pesan sobre el cannabis y que iniciaron en 1930 con la prohibición del consumo de la planta en Estados Unidos.

    “El término marihuana surge como un uso despectivo hacía los inmigrantes mejicanos en ese momento y ese taboo todavía está vigente”, aseguró Pablo sobre la restricción al uso del cannabis.

    El farmacéutico afirmó que falta avanzar en términos de educación e incorporar el conocimiento que actualmente se tiene sobre el uso medicinal de la planta en la mayoría de las universidades.

    Alfaraz expresó que desde el Estado se están haciendo esfuerzos para avanzar pero aún es marginal. Sin embargo, el profesional de Farmacity aseguró que hubo cambios en la visión sobre la planta.

    “Hasta hace 10 años hablar de cannabis en una universidad era verlo como un problema de seguridad, toxicología o adicciones”, detalló Pablo y agregó: “El conocimiento por el sistema endocanabinoide es muy reciente”.

    El farmacéutico realizó en detalle un recorrido sobre los diferentes avances que hubo en Argentina con respecto a la planta y en comparación con Israel, pionero en la materia, Uruguay, algunos estados de Estados Unidos, entre otros.

    También el profesional reconoció que la legislación penal en el país castiga la tenencia de cannabis para uso adulto y recordó que aún hoy sigue habiendo gente presa por cultivar y usar la planta.

    Alfaraz destacó de todas maneras el trabajo realizado por las organizaciones sociales, como Mamá Cultiva y especialistas de la planta para conseguir en 2017 la primera ley de cannabis medicinal. Si bien era una normativa limitada, “volvió a la relación médico – paciente horizontal”.

    “Hay que dejar en claro que el cannabis es una herramienta muy segura”, afirmó el farmacéutico y agregó: “En los más de 5 mil años de uso de la planta documentados, no hay ni una sola muerte por sobredosis de cannabis”.

    Usos del cannabis medicinal

    Pablo explicó en el podcast + Bienestar que la mayoría de las personas que utiliza cannabis medicinal lo hace para aliviar los dolores crónicos y dolencias agudas que pueden surgir luego de una cirugía o accidente.

    “En lo que respecta al conocimiento científico, el cannabis se usa en epilepsia refractaria”, indicó el profesional al tiempo que detalló que ese tipo de epilepsia no responde a la medicación tradicional y es por eso que hay un principal interés sobre la planta.

    También los derivados del cannabis pueden ser usados en personas que sufren de náuseas, en general, vinculado a tratamientos contra el cáncer. “La cantidad de usos es enorme y variada”, aseguró.

    El profesional que forma parte de Farmacity fue consultado por los prejuicios que existen sobre los productos a base de cannabis que se comercializan y sobre sus diferentes aplicaciones.

    “Todo lo que se consigue en la farmacia y tenga aprobación del ANMAT contiene CBD”, informó Pablo e indicó que: “Hay que descartar cualquier estado alterado de la conciencia por el uso de productos de ese tipo”.

    Alfaraz aclaró que en general las fórmulas que contienen THC (componente psicoactivo), conseguidos por medio del auto cultivo o cultivador solidario, tienen propiedades psicotrópicas pero también usos terapéuticos. “No hay que descartar su utilización”, afirmó.

    Durante el fin de semana del 4, 5 y 6 de noviembre se llevó a cabo la Expo Cannabis Argentina 2022 en el predio de la Rural. Farmacity participó de en esta tercera edición del evento y Pablo Alfaraz estuvo, durante el último día, en el conversatorio organizado por este medio desde el stand de ARGENCANN.
