    El Ingeniero Agrónomo recibido por la Universidad de Buenos Aires (UBA), Claudio Dunan, será el nuevo presidente del Instituto Nacional de Semillas (INASE). El profesional del área cuenta con el respaldo del flamante secretario de Agricultura de la Nación, Fernando Vilella. 

    Se trata de uno de los 23 socios fundadores de Bioceres, empresa de biotecnología agropecuaria fundada en 2001, en la localidad de Rosario, Santa Fe. Dunan se unió en 2012 como Director de Estrategia.

    El rol del INASE en la pujante industria del cannabis y el cáñamo en Argentina fue crucial ya que desde el organismo se habilitó en 2021 la compra y venta de semillas de la planta para usuarios de REPROCANN y proyectos de cultivo medicinales.

    Dunan fue docente e investigador en Colorado State University, en el Departamento de Agricultura de los Estados Unidos (USDA), en la Universidad de Padova (Italia) y en Lousiana State University entre 1990 y 1996. Además, obtuvo su Ph.D en Ecología de Malezas en Colorado State University, en 1993.

    El organismo que tendrá a cargo el ingeniero agrónomo permitió avanzar en el registro de genéticas de cannabis nacionales para su compra y venta de manera legal, y establecer un total de 6 categorías diferentes para operar en la industria nacional del cannabis.

    Entre 1996 y 2012 Dunan ocupó puestos importantes en empresas de agroinsumos: Zeneca (hoy Syngenta), Makhteshim-Agan (hoy Adama) y Síntesis Química (Punjaab Chemichasl).

    En la actualidad el nuevo presidente del INASE es uno de los coordinadores y docentes de la Diplomatura de Bionegocios de la Facultad de Agronomía de la UBA (FAUBA).

    Entre figuras que están en el INASE para operar en la industria del cannabis están: 

    • A – CRIADERO. Es aquel dedicado al fitomejoramiento, búsqueda e inscripción de nuevas variedades. Puede comercializar su producción de semilla.
    • B – INTRODUCTOR. Es aquel que ingresa al país germoplasma extranjero con fines comerciales. Multiplica los materiales y puede comercializar semillas.
    • E – IDENTIFICADOR. Es aquel que produce y comercializa semilla de clase identificada, de variedades creadas por un criadero (A). Es responsable del contenido del envase frente al usuario por reclamos de calidad e identidad. Puede comercializar su producción de semilla.
    • F – COMERCIANTE EXPENDEDOR. Es aquel que comercializa semilla producida por terceros. No está autorizado a multiplicar semilla ni a rotular.
    • H – PRODUCTOR BAJO CONDICIONES CONTROLADAS. Es aquel que multiplica semilla utilizando procesos de laboratorio o aplicando técnicas especiales que aseguren la sanidad del material o aceleren su germinación. Pueden comercializar su producción.
    • K – VIVERO IDENTIFICADOR. Produce material de propagación agámica (esqueje) o plantines de variedades de un criadero. Puede producir y rotular su producción. Incluye también a aquel que únicamente comercialice variedades de terceros en forma de plantín o esqueje.

    Durante los últimos años, el INASE participó activamente en las distintas exposiciones, ferias y eventos del ámbito cannábico y mostró su apoyo a las primeras empresas del sector como también a las antiguas y nuevas organizaciones de cultivadores.

    Hay gran expectativa en el sector por entender de qué manera seguirá el INASE en su vinculación con el sector cannábico, si lo hará como hasta ahora o habrá modificaciones.
